Death Saves: War of Dragons D&D Characters

I was commissioned by Joe Manganiello to draw the characters from the D&D game that he runs, to be turned into miniatures from WizKid games.
Joe gathered descriptions and even some backstories from the players, and any existing concept art or illustration that had been done before.
Some of the characters required little-to-no design work, as they had already been drawn or concepted, but others I got to design from the ground up, based on their descriptions.
From left to right:
• Maeglin the Divination Wizard & his raven familiar Poe (Drew Crevello)
• Kimathi Stormhollow the Mountain Dwarf Champion/Forge Cleric & his polar bear mount Brago (Tom Morello)
• Neruk the Unkillable, the Goliath Battle Master reincarnated into the body of a Human Paladin (Ron Mathews)
• Phann Naïlo, the Wood Elf Inquisitor (John Cassel)
• Lapp, the Water Genasi Land Druid & his seagull familiar Christopher Squawkin (George Finn)
• Marat Occisor, offspring of Zariel and Paladin of Torm (Dave Benioff)
• Kalatuur Minmax, Half-Orc Zealot (Kyle Newman)
• Kasin, the Divine Soul Sorcerer (Vince Vaughn)
• The Ghost of Jericho Blackwing, Death Cleric of Myrkul (Ryan Verniere)
• Oriax, Tiefling HexBlade Warlock (Nick Manganiello)
• Hugo Ledbetter, the Moon Elf Assassin (DB Weiss)
• Ullac Jotunn, the Half-Stone Giant Psychic Warrior (Paul Wight)

Pencils. At this stage I had done all the design work and details. However, Jericho Blackwing was given wings and I was asked to make sure his face was a skull before moving forward.

Rough thumbnail sketch sent to Joe Manganiello to give a general idea of what the final product could look like. Because we were doing full bodied drawings of each character, I thought a lineup of them posing on some ruins was a good way to showcase them
